@3 MIKE'S MUSIC COLUMN

Hello, welcome to this issue's music column. This will be a forum
of ideas and debates about music and AMOS. Well, maybe not...

AMOS and Soundtracker
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have noticed that when playing Tracker modules, AMOS
occasionally decides to take looped samples and move the loop
point for no particular reason. This usually only happens when
you are using ProTracker modules. As a rule, only use
Noisetracker modules in your AMOS productions, because AMOS only
supports half of Protracker's features.
AMOS and .Abk Modules
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NEVER convert Soundtracker modules to .Abk modules unless they
contain NO EFFEECTS COMMMANDS whatsoever. .Abk modules sound VERY
strange when some commands are converted, so try to avoid using
them unless you REALLY have to.
AMOS and MED Modules
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember that you can't use MED modules unless you pay RBF
software a fee for use of the MEDPlayer.Library. Use AMFC or
something to convert MED Modules to Soundtracker modules before
you use them because they cause no end of problems.
The Audio Filter
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Commodore, in their infinite wisdom, decided to make the Amiga
SOund filter completely useless - when it is turned on you
immediately lose ALL sound quality. I don't know if you can tell
when using monitor speakers, or those little speakers costing
about £14.99, but through my amplifier it sounds absolutely
*expletive deleted* when the filter is turned on. For some
reason, best known to themselves, all AMOS programmers seem to
leave the filter on when playing music. I can't stand to hear
music butchered in this fashion. Use 'Led Off' in your programs!!
